DoidVision
You enable DoidVision by typing the key combination Ctrl+Shift+D, which is to say holding down the left Ctrl and Shift keys at the same time and tapping the D letter key. Pressing Ctrl+Shift+D will cycle through the 3 doidVision modes and then back to off.
Here is the cycle order.
- off
1 - on, all doids shown, white text
2 - on, only obstacle/obstaclette doids shown, red text*
3 - on, only avatar doids shown, green text*
You will know when you have enabled DoidVision because every object you can see will have a black tag superimposed over it with a 9-digit number presented in white, red,or green. These numbers are the doids for the objects; every distinct object in the world has a different doid.
One apparent exception to this is presented by add-on kit objects within a PortaZone. If you look at a PortaZone full of add-on kit objects (furniture, for example) you will see that each of the objects in the zone is labelled with the same number: this is in fact the doid for the PortaZone itself, not the add-on kits. This comes about because the add-on kits are not “first class” objects and have no existence in the world independently to the zone in which they are placed.
Signs, scrolls, books and QuestKit objects all retain their individual doids even when placed in a PortaZone.
Some objects appear to have the same doid appearing twice. For example, this is the case for avatars, hoverbikes and signs. This occurs because two visual objects are displayed in-world for each of these: the first is the object itself, the second is the object’s shadow.
